Greg: Sorry for the slow uptake, too much job and town chairman work right now.
Anyway, here goes.
1. Need 75% to change a rule passed by the group, and 75% just to bring it up for review. This was dictated by ISR after the weight deal last year.
2. All notices in 2007-2008 book were reviewed and passed except the weight rule which ended up in the book showing combined instead of 375 sled only due to the late change. (see above)
3. Protest fee suggested to be raised to $250, agreed to and passed Effective June 1, 2009 8 for 0 against.
3. Helmet goes to Snell 2005 effective June 1, 2009 8-0
4. Radios no longer allowed. Brought up by SCM and USSA, I totally changed my opinion from last year when Dave W tried hard to get them dropped. I felt it was a safety thing, unfortunately a lot of guys used them the wrong way. Marcel was good enough to not say "I told you so". vote was 5 to drop, 0 against 2 abstain.
5. Discussion on dropping SS600, manufacturers suggested that that would be not advisable. Continued discussion, allowed that we would allow all 600s to compete in SS 600 and would post a one year notice on Pro Stock 600 to be dropped on June 1, 2009. 6-0 vote
6. Ussa tabled their proposal on stock skid and front suspension for stock class until the Decker format proposal was discussed.
7 Chuck and Todd presented a format for the future with a F-500 junior program , a F-500 program, a Pure stock program, a Sprint program, and a Champ and Open deal.
Lots of discussion, lots of harsh words, no decision. We went back and took it by parts and ended up with these parts for 2009 and beyond. A Junior deal of Junior Novice, Junior F-500 with some form of restriction, Junior I sprint and Junior II sprint. Marcel will test the restricter deal on the junior f-500 this season, and USSA may also.
Two methods of restriction explored are a half throttle limiter and a restricter plate at 34mm.
Also separately we decided to drop Sprint 500 after one year and make Semi Pro and Pro Sprint 600 the classes for the future. A one year notice was published on 500 Sprint.
Pure stock was discussed, concessions for ski's and shocks were offered, but the idea never caught traction. end result is most everyone there except Mira felt that stock as we know it is pretty much dead anyway, either with new sleds or the old Champ style stockers. It's too bad cause I think we missed a chance to do good here. I personally feel if someone paid $2500 to win and paid down 5 places in a five race series, "pure stockers would come out of the woodwork, without any *****ing about how slow and how hard to drive they are. It's all based on the guys who got the present units don't want to back up. Discussion at times got so vehement that Chuck and Todd chose to back off on the proposal and regroup in a professional manner.
No other format changes came from the proposal.
8 Four stroke discussion, The Soo was admonished on why they allowed the APex last year, but when all was said and done they do have the right to call their own shots. Other four stroke packages were discussed and approval fell along the lines of the 3 cylinder package that Yamaha has approved in the manufacturers rules.
9.Reviewed Champ weight after last year debacle. it is 375 sled only, 6 to 1, with one abstain by the Enduro groups.
10. Rule clarification. Titanium springs not allowed in stock. Marcel's group and opinion prevailed. USSA will change their interpretation for next year. Pro-Ice will review, but it appeared Matt will go with the rule also. Wally had used the USSA process in the past, and will consider the change.
11.Various Mira rules discussed. I suggest their people who follow this forum see Dan for his Mira based recap. I don't want to put out bad info. Dan and Mr. Meihls seemed very concerned for the sport and were very accommodating to the Sprint groups present. My thanks to them.
12.I had proposed a redundant light deal to stop stuff like happened to Jock. After some discussion it got so twisted up I retracted it. Later Gokey proposed a version of at least a LED light being reccommended, but much of the original format was lost.
13. Rule to ban rear idlers over 12 inches was discussed and dropped. Left open for more study.
14. ISR asked all to tend to more restriction on sound, our mods are getting too loud again and we are getting some governmental concerns.
15. Steering column location on F-500. Discussion raised by Korinek, Fontaine, and Petinelli, all three associations had issues with interpretation. After much discussion final decision was to use at least one existing bolt hole on bottom mount, and allow the bar to be angled. Various builders had move bars, put in separate steering columns and ran the main column with bell cranks, others used elaborate joint configurations. Special thanks to Tony P for being very gracious as a unit he built was controversial, he however chose the high ground and examined what was best for a class thats supposed to be a beginner deal. 6-0 vote by the way.
16. Mira wishes to use USSA rules for Limited 500, but since they have a fair amount of 600 Fans they asked for the allowance of a stock 600 fan to be allowed in the class. USSA agreed and will offer the same, thus only one set of rules in the ISR book.
17. Led tailight brought up in all mods again. A DOT number based LED light was approved and will be the reccommended light. Much brighter than the 1157.
18. A builder brought up the possibility of using a 440 Polaris Fan motor with reed assist, blocking the reed assist and going with big carbs as a piston port. Idea was rejected.
Various other enduro and vintage rules worked on. See Todd on Vintage, or Dan for Enduro stuff.
Thanks
Korinek

Thanks for the update Jerry. When will the official rules for the 2008-2009 season be published or are they already?

I know how tenuous these meetings can be, I applaud all the people who love the sport so dearly that they are willing to come together to make decisions based on what is best for the sport. I don't think these guys get the credit they deserve sometimes. Thank you for all you do.
