lets discuss this in an orderly fasion an see what we can conclude on.

All I can say is the fans must get confused when they here mod sounding 600/700's in the stock 800 class.

If we called it a 600 mod 800stock class. a 600 modded up to 699 than I think 700 to 799 twin/triple pipes could work and than of course 800 stock after that. (oh I think poo 800's should be alowed twin/triple pipes) in rev chassis HA,HA))

600 mod class will be either 600 cc max for a mod motor and or 800cc max stock in that class which will probably be proposed again this year there will not be any mod overs 600cc's in the 600 mod class Bobby if it gets passed, they used to run a 600cc mod class back in the day ask some of the veterans about it Bobby on how it was setup. I think a 600 mod class and or 800 stock would make for some great racing, a mod Polaris 600 might actually be able to keep up to them fast 800 stock doos, any other thoughts on this.

First of all I don't agree or disagree with this 600 Mod class idea...

Bobby, I am sure Sam is correct on the Mod. discription. 600 cc mod. 601 and larger have to be stock. Stock 700's can twin pipe.

I am not sure of the point of the class. You will still have to tech the class for stock sleds and to make sure the 600 mods are no larger than 600 cc.

So I need Kenny and anyone else to help me understand the purpose of the change.

Here is what is being talked about. It will be a class with full mod 600s and anyone with a stock 800 can run the class with the stock 800 rules minus the front suspension width rule. The front suspension will be open to any width. from my understanding we then would open the plastic rule too for lightweight aftermarket plastic for the stock 800. so all in all the stock 800 will basically be a mod chasis except retaining the brands motor in the brands chasis. They are looking at this for pro class only for the first year and then do something of this sort in semi pro the following year. the reasoning behind this is that our stock classes are not growing and with the availability of sno cross mods that we hope that this class will then take off.

I can say from an IWA/EWA National level it would be great to have 2 mod classes 600 mod and 800 mod. Not because that's what we do but because the mods are better equiped to run on the water. In Elmira we are allowing any IWA Stock legal (there will be tech) to run in our 600 mod class. Semipro or pro. I have been a proponent of this change for years. By allowing the 800 stockers to run it gives us a few transition years to develope the 600 class in the IWA. 800 stockers are really cool but you are really not competative unless you're on a rev. the POO and Cat are too expensive to use them today and although I have never built or ridden a stocker I feel the better bet for the program is the mod chassis. I think they do cost less and can be made to handle better. I do not have data to confirm this but I'll bet the stockers sink more, slowing down the program.

Just another perspective.

The major problem that I see with the "Stock" class is that the sleds are nowhere close to "Stock". We don't have the time or the tech personnel to tear every sled apart to properly police it's "Stock" status. With the exception of a couple of individuals, the factories simply have not jumped on board with the Pro Stock idea the way we thought they would when the class was created. The class doesn't have parity right now and that has been the biggest contributing factor to it's lack of growth.

I feel that if we open the chassis rules, allow up to 600 CC mod motors, and still allow stock motors from 601-800, we will get some parity back into the class.

This is all about putting on a show for the fans and what is best for the sport in general. We could also add a 600 mod drag class which would give the people who build them more time on the water and generate more revenue for the race purses.

That is my take on the situation and I support this transition 100% just as I did last year

First of all, I think the idea of allowing 600 mods in the stock class is great. I also like the idea of allowing stock 800's to be allowed to run an unlimited ski width. Its amazing what an inch or two will do for cornering. As far as the 700's being allowed to run twin pipes, I for one think it works well. We all know that the rev 800's are at no disadvantage when other brands are allowed to do this. I'm not sure of the Polaris, Arctic Cat, etc? ( not too sure of the plants under all fellow racers hoods)It seems very fair. 600 mods. Anyone raced one? How do they stack up against the stock 800's in general? Arent they running around 150-160 hp? Didnt an EWA driver win the mod drag class in Grantsburg on a mod 600? If so i may have to ditch the stock 800 for a mod 6.

There are no less than 2 dozen strong 600 mods in the east. If it changed I would definetely bring mine west for grantsburg.

I have a chassis and a 600 motor waiting for this rule to be passed, I remeber racing a 600 mod against 700 mods back in the day in semi-pro open. I do think if this rule passes to change the name of the class for less fan confusion. Maybe take a Ice racing term and aply it, maybe call it Pro Sprint ovals or Pro champ??????
