depends whether buying brand new or used? a brand new snox 600 mod is about 10-11 grand and a used anywhere from 5500-8500 depending on its condition, im not sure on the price range for the trail sled.

not really. the sno x mods that are usually a year old run 5500 to 8500 and most of them have basically a stock motor with a head and pipes and hot cdi curve and most are about 140 hp. to get to 150 plus you would have to spend about 2grand more so in the long run the stock sled is more cost effective and still has a good value of selling at anytime.

I am sure that a stock 600 that is 1 year old from sno x would run around 4-4500 and then about 500 to set up for the water so for 5g or less you could have a sled that will be worth something when you are done.

Just remember when you all are talking about changing the rules that not all of our drivers can even afford to drive to all of the races let alone build a new sled. Keeping it simple can also keep costs down, 600 mod with a chassis rule for stockers sounds like the best solution to keep the most racers coming back.

From an organizational standpoint, what the IWA needs to survive is drivers. We need more drivers to enter in Pro Stock in order for that class to survive.

Shawn, you used to be a huge supporter of the 600 mod idea. When did you do the 180?

the cost a new o9 sno pro is just under 9000

when i realized that the cost of a mod gets old and when you try to sell them. I have built more mods than most any driver out there. I know what the cost is to compete to win. About 10g in a sled and race it for a year or 2 and get 4500 for it. I am looking at the long term future of the class and the stock 600 will be the sled that will be affordable and have all makes competitive and not loose much money on the sled when you are done. Yes there will be a few that will have to make the transition but there was only 6-8 full time pro stock drivers anyways and most of them can just do a motor swap without spending a dime. I personally would not waist my time building a 600 mod. Like mike d said most racers barely have enough money to drive to the race and pay there registration let alone spend 10g to have a new looking competitive mod.

You wouldn't have to build a mod. Run a 800 stock.

Mark M told me a story about PeeWee were he had to add weight to his drag sled because no one could touch him. The adding weigh to SkiDoo's was something I was serious about. Someone told me it takes 1 hp to pull 10#s.

from a safety stand point because all the sleds are going so fast maybe be we should have stock 600 and mod 600 and eliminate 800's all togethor
