Moyle killed in parasailing accident
President of local construction firm dead at 30
CHASSELL TOWNSHIP - Businessman Jeff Moyle died Sunday as a result of a parasailing accident in Chassell Township. He was 30 years old.
According to the Houghton County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred about 4:40 p.m. near the South Entry Road at a camp located on the Portage Canal.
Moyle was attempting to parasail from the shore near the camp when he became airborne and lost control in the strong wind. He fell approximately 50 feet from the air and struck a tug boat parked at a dock in the canal.
Moyle, a Chassell Township resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was the eldest son of Tom and Denise Moyle, who began Moyle Inc. in 1976.
Moyle Inc. was later divided into two branches; Tom and Denise continue to lead Moyle Real Estate & Development, while Jeff became president of Moyle Construction, which employs 150 people.
Assisting the Houghton County Sheriff's Department at the accident scene were the Chassell First Responders, Mercy Ambulance and the Houghton County Victims Service Unit.
Funeral arrangements are being arranged by the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Moyle Family.

Jeff was a great person and I am glad that I had the good fortune of knowing him on and off the race track. Jeff truly "went for the Gusto" in everything he did and will be sorely missed by all that knew him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Moyle family. Sincerely, John Hooper

I had a brief opportunity to work with Jeff during the season he and Mike Sarna campaigned the same sled, his desire to succeed left a lasting impression.
To the Moyle family, May your faith help you to endure the sorrow of your loss.

We all lost a friend yesterday. I am very upset to hear this. I am so sorry that the Moyle's have to deal with the loss of their eldest son. Not fair.

The first time I went to Eagle River riding a Hooper Chassis. He was one of the first guys to give me a helping hand. He did not know me from anyone but showed what a true gentlemen he was. I well never forget that.
My thoughts and prayers go to all the family and friends of Jeff!
Sincerely, Jason Smith
