CHASSELL TOWNSHIP - Businessman Jeff Moyle died Sunday as a result of a parasailing accident in Chassell Township. He was 30 years old.
According to the Houghton County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred about 4:40 p.m. near the South Entry Road at a camp located on the Portage Canal.
Moyle was attempting to parasail from the shore near the camp when he became airborne and lost control in the strong wind. He fell approximately 50 feet from the air and struck a tug boat parked at a dock in the canal.
Moyle, a Chassell Township resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was the eldest son of Tom and Denise Moyle, who began Moyle Inc. in 1976.
Moyle Inc. was later divided into two branches; Tom and Denise continue to lead Moyle Real Estate & Development, while Jeff became president of Moyle Construction, which employs 150 people.
Assisting the Houghton County Sheriff's Department at the accident scene were the Chassell First Responders, Mercy Ambulance and the Houghton County Victims Service Unit.
Funeral arrangements are being arranged by the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet.
Andy sent this picture of Jeff to me this morning, asking if I could post it here. This was from the X-Games this summer.

Jeff was a idol to me when I started racing, he was a guy to look up too! Alawys there to lend a hand or give some advice to a young driver. I am deeply sadened by this tragic news. May god bless his family through these times and rest in peace Jeff.

Jeff always worked very hard to be the best of what ever he did . I will never forget the time he showed up at Wildrose with the first Rugland Polaris 700 ev motor . we were all lined up along the shore from the pits just to watch him run , man that thing was fast . I was also glad to be pitting for Jeff the year his brother Gary won his first world championship at Eagle River . I think Jeff got 5th that year . My thoughts and prayers go out to Kim and his family.

I really enjoyed being around Jeff during his IWA days. He was wise beyond his age. Everybody liked him for many reasons. I gained even more respect for him when he made a mistake on the course and then when the heat was over he rushed over to apoligize over and over. That doesn't happen very often. I will never forget the big smile that Jeff and the rest of the Moyles had when Jeff won Pro Open at Wild Rose on his very trick "skinny sled". Our thoughts and Prayers are with the Moyle family.

Mike we should do something to honor Jeff at the banquet, would it be possible to retire his number? I think that would be a great honor.
