Its such an easy change to make I don't see why anyone would not do it. Regardless of the rules or not. If you run anykind of Data system on your sled you already have the battery and its not a big deal. We have a big battery for the Mychron and other electronics and we just make sure to plug it in basically everynight for a couple of hours.

We have incorporated a DeWalt cordless battery socket into the sled this year to run the tail light and computer.
It's makes it easy to charge, easy to install fresh Battery, and of course ties into my tittle sponsor DeWalt.

To that 31 car: My excuse Jerry, did'nt know how the rules had been done. Sorry my mistake, to big of a mouth, to fast. Anyway, it's still hard to understand that some peoples think it's to much work.
Come on it's simple. Use a small light battery like they sell at any camera shop (12volt), Hook the light with an on/off switch to it and then hook the battery to your engine 12 volt supply that normaly does the supply to the rear light, that will automaticly recharge it. Simple.
Beleive it or not, my system was suppose to be like that since a couple years, but i did'nt want anybody to walk by my sled and turn the light on whitout knowing about it and then kill the battery.
Can you beleive my stupid move, that almost kill me. i guess we always need to think futher ahead in life.
Again, Sorry Jerry.
Bye

Jacques see you in Beausejour in December, come a couple days early and get some testing in. Find any more horse power in your 440 engine over the summer?
I'm all for the new tail light rule, but I really don't know if it would have saved you from getting hit last year. The snow dust was extremely heavy and it's always worse at night. I saw you raise your arm as your motor went down and really didn't see Gokey until a foot before impact. By the way how is your body feelin these days?

Mine is very similar, except I was too cheap to use the DeWalt stuff, I went with the cheap Black and Decker version. Mine snaps into a base just like the drill and has a simple way to charge it. Was a little tricky machining a base to work as well as the drill but I thought having the drill bolted to the sled would look corny

You don't need a rule to have a consensus among racers....lets all agree to run the dual tail light in champ and open...lets not wait to be regulated...lets regulate our selves

Proton, I agree with you on that. I am incorporating a dual system on my Vintage IFS sleds that we are running at ER this year.

Great Idea... I really don't think anyone dissagrees that this is a bad idea, just some technicalities about writing it in the rules.
