This is Nick LaGoy from the Eastern side and this upcoming season i will be racing in the champ class and i was wondering how comfortable is the Leatt brace?? Me and my father have been talking about getting one and getting it fitted to me. I know my buddy Dustin Gherke were's one and he says he dossent even notice its there but he also drives a stocker and has a totally different driving style than mine. Also i was wondering just how much this Leatt Brace restricts your movement?? will i be able to get low enough for a champ sled? im pretty sure i have seen Jeff DeJong and P.J. Wondershield with them on.....im just looking for some feedback on the Leatt brace. Mabey someone can give me some pros and cons as to what i can expect with this thing.

Nick. I will not race without mine. and No i don't notice it whatsoever. I went the extra mile and had my vest and jacket modified so that the brace sits down right on my shoulders where it should be. I was instructed to try and get it as close to my body as possible. (Obviously with some thin shirt of something on) This gives you as much clearance for your helmet as possible too. You'll have to open up the neck opening on your vest and your race jacket. I put the brace on, then the vest, elbow pads ect. then my jacket.
One other thing too. I have seen a new Leatt brace out there for 199. It doesn't look like the adjustable one though. The front and back on mine and most of them moves up and down.(mine is set all the way down and is still safe) Just the cheaper one may not be adjustable at all and may not give you as much clearance.
If you have any other questions, call me after 530 at 613-401-5901 leave a msg if I don't answer as cell coverage up here sucks. chow

I bought one for motocross this past summer. Like my asterix knee braces, I wont ride without one. For moto, Im too focused on the racing to notice Im wearing it. Its comfortable.
I have not worn it on the sled. Im not sure how effective it would be for me since I wear an Iron Dogger open face lid. If youre oval racing then you will definatley need the adjustable one brace. If you can not use it, you will be able to sell it to someone Im sure.

I guess I didnt reply to your specific questions, I can try.
Fitting - The Leatt is not really fitted (sized specifically for you). You purchase the Adult brace and it comes with everything you need to fit your body shape. The instructions are very detailed on what you need to do. It even comes with tools.
Movement - you can adjust it to where you need it. Your head will only move so far on its own. The brace can be adjusted to that point and help keep your melon from moving any further. Which is a good thing. It does not restrict movement other than looking over you shoulder, which is probably something you wont be doing.
Issues - You will need to modify your chest protector and jacket to get the brace to sit close to your body. Then you will also need to dream up something for wind protection.
I have the standard adjustable one. I didnt see a need for the light weight carbon fiber unit. I wont ride or race my bike without mine. Just about every kid racing MX up here in AK has one now. There are a few that are using it in sno-x as well.
As I said before, I would just buy it and try it out. If you dont like it, then sell it. Someone will buy it for sure.

RpR#10, just curious why do you guys where the open face helmets in the Iron Dog?
Isn't a full face warmer? Is it a fogging issue?
I thought it looked like Todd Palin had an open face to, I'm guessing there is a reason I just can't figure out what it is.

We just got our Leatt Braces from Wahl's today. $395+tax a pop times 3, yikes!
But, if it keeps me from having the same neck and back issues that 2 of my buddies Shane Felegy and Steve Arpin have to deal with the rest of their lives, I am all for wearing one. Everyone should make the investment.
