When Polaris came out with that design I thought it was ugly but it sure looks cool on a champ.
Go to ebay and type in this item # 280284635852

That is the Ski-doo chassis. It's the same basic Chassis that JV is using (I say basic because he more than likely has quite a few changes done to his.) There are still a few guys running this style chassis out there.
The Ski-doo Chassis is a tube frame front end with a sheet metal tunnel. A-arm front suspension with inboard mounted shocks (they use a pivot to change the direction of the shock pressure) This has some advantages and disadvantages. It also uses a set of dual outboard shocks as you can see in the pics.
The Wahl Chassis is also a tube frame front end with a sheet metal tunnel, but it has outboard mounted shocks (same as a traditional a-arm sled.) The rear shock is a single unit in the rear skid.
A Hooper sled (basically a Modified Cat ZR front clip) is a fabricated aluminum front end with an aluminum tunnel. It has the outboard front shocks like the Wahl and the same inboard Rear shock as the Wahl.
There are also some differnces in spindle design and geometry and many other things.
That is one of Jason Smiths old sleds. I'm not sure if he won his semi-pro title on that sled (I thought it was on his Hooper Chassis but I could be wrong) Maybe he could let you know.
It would be a decent sled to get into Champ. Hard to tell what kind of shape it is actually in without seeing it in person. You would need someone to make most of the parts for one of those nowadays. A Wahl chassis you can basically order them right off the shelf.
Hope this helps
Jeff
