MANDITORY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVERS MEETING!
Again this year 2009 there will be a mandatory drivers meeting for all drivers entered in the World Championship. The meeting will be held in the lower south hot seats on Wednesday night Jan 15th 7:00pm sharp! The meeting will be conducted by the Derby Track staff and USSA Officials will be in attendance. The meeting is mandatory for all drivers and it is recommended that each driver bring a crew member. Failure to attend this meeting will result in a no show for Thursday morning’s time trails..
OVAL RIDERS: Sport riders can enter semi-pro classes and semi- pro riders can enter pro classes. Pro riders cannot drop down. Semi-pro riders cannot drop down.

*VERY IMPORTANT INFORMAION*

When there are less than 10 entries per class “all entries will be in the final race”
You do not have to run your heat race to be in the finals you can choose not to run your heat race the decision for the extra ice time will be up to you.

Sorry To Upset The Basket, I May Take Your Ideal & Stay Home.

Just post what time the finals are, beacuse there won't be any races for the Fans to watch. I thought the Derby was part of ISR, does it not say have to take a green to advance to the Final? Guess I am wrong?

May I ask, WHO is on a "Pro List"? Never saw a list posted at the track.

Stay cold and all come to the BEST Race of your Life, BJ Dec 6-7. That is where the World Championship Race should be.

doohelper, i do not see anything in the ISR book about taken a green to advance to a final. it says that the driver and sled are one and can not switch engines or sled. but i do not see anything else. i know in USSA you need to take a green, but that might be in there bylaws.

i remember back a few years ago, that there was some problems with PJ not allowed to advance becasue not takeing a green. Jim Shmidt also had a problem. but at the driver meeting if you where there last year? they address the way the derby was going to allow a full field for sunday. think it might be there choose?

not trying to asker for todd, just how is see it.

If you have a problem with how the event is ran or the meeting, take it up privately with Todd and Chuck. I am sure that the Deckers or Todd had no intentions of going long on Friday night. Sometimes things just happen. Reality is that spectators don't like to wait, get cold, or get bored while seeing a show. The Deckers fully realize that and try to do what is best for the fan first. Even with good intentions, sometimes things go awry. I personally questioned many things that the derby has done or even USSA has done to build a show over the years. But in reality, the effort was to entertain the fan. I myself personally like the pure essence of racing, the engineering, the driver talent, etc. but guess what, without the extras, the crowd entertainment factors, we would not have fans. Ted Otto thought me that, Dick Decker, not Chuck, thought me that. If I ran a race to my style, it would be only racing, on racing's basis, but unfortunately only a few would watch. Be thankful that there is more to the show, more to bring fans, Hell, I should be the first to *****, cause Todd and Chuck want all of the staff to meet certain deadlines and time slots, and sometimes with the extra entertainment we can't achieve our goal, and it frustrates us. But the REALITY is that the incidental parts of the show are just as valuable as the race to many of the fans. Maybe you are too close to the subject being part of a team or crew. But even so, remember, the Derby is still the one to be at, if it's so screwed up, stay home, I guess it don't mean much to win a Eagle, I guess it don't mean much to your sponsors to win or be even part of the WC. I guess it don't mean much to be part of something special. Chuck and Todd are too much of a gentlemen to probably say anything, but my personal opinion has just been put in print. Don't criticize the people who try their best to promote the sport even in these tough economic times. Sponsors are short, money is tight, let's not make it worse. I too have had disagreements with the Deckers, but I have always found them to be reasonable, considerate, and just plain christian when issues are brought up to them face to face. Sometimes I won, sometimes I didn't, but I was always heard and considered. Maybe you should try it, give them a call, voice your concerns, but don't blast them here and hide behind a nondescript name and a location north of hwy 8. Todd and Chuck can always be found on Hwy 45 with real names, let's be fair and approach them with real names and concerns. Yeah, things didn't go well with the vehicles, but, do you really think that's was the intention of the management, do you think they wanted that for their sponsor or the fans? Sometimes, things just happen. Think it over. Give them a call.

Advance to the final:
I am sure that Todd intends for the WC to be conducted as in the past. You must take a green to advance. If you read his post it refers to less than 10 sleds in the class or event. In those classes you can run your heat, or chose to miss it and only appear in the final. All other classes with elimination due to more than 10 sleds in the class will need to run heats and perhaps semi-finals to eliminate competitors to end up with a ten sled final.
Let's not read more into this than what was said.
By the way, in my opinion, anyone who gives up ice time at the WC, is missing valuable test, learning, and experience time. Why do you think the WC guys all enter the Formula class, yeah it's nice to win, but more so, it gives them ice time to learn and set up. Yes, you risk a crash, and perhaps injury, but that risk,is somewhat small in perspective to the things you can learn that might just make you a World Champion.

The main reason Friday night took so long is because there was an insane amount of crashes.
I'm not sure there was a race that night that didn't have at least one crash in it.
I might be stretching it a little but there was a lot of frigging crashes.

I agree. There were like 12 Red Flags and a Car Crash.

(even Darren left his spot to check out the Vendor Building last year!!! LOL)
