Figure it out guys:

Enter your class = receive a free Pit Pass

Pit Pass = $65

So.....why don't you just enter your Crew Member who needs a Pit Pass into a Sport Snocross Class for $30, and save yourself $35. Less than half-price!!!

PLUS....now Eagle River can show more Entries on their Classes too....it's a WIN-WIN.

Know what guys this just gets old. Everybody moaning about every little thing. There is no one getting rich in this sport. You do it because you love it. Believe me I know what it is like to be on a racing budget. Also on a promotors budget. Ten bucks here sixty five bucks there seam like a lot. Reality check, they are nothing. Maybe we should just be lucky to have a place to race our ten thousand dollar race sleds whether it be vintage or modern.
As a racer we spend countless hours in the shop building, hundreds of dollars in parts, hundreds of dollars in practice, just so we can go fast, hundreds of dollars on race weekend to win maybe a couple of hundred dollars. (doesn't seem right does it)
As a promoter we spend countless hours planning, building, begging for sponsors, bailing hay(when was the last time any of you spent two solid weekends in October bailing thousands bails of hay), and spend thousands of dollars(that is right I said thousands) to give everybody a place to race. Then you have a race scheduled against you and not that many racers to go around. So everything you have worked for all year depends on a pool tournament to make you some money. Lets get real.
How about this, a trail sled(cost is about the same as a race sled)Maybe more, countless hours marking trail(like my dad) insurance on your trail sled, hundreds of dollars in motel rooms to go trail riding, fees to pay to ride on the trails. Moan on their sites that the trails are to rough!!!!!

Good morning guys. I just got back from racing this weekend and trying to promote our race in a very tough environment. We run a sport woman’s class. It cost me $65.00 to enter $25.00 for insurance and $56.00 for each crew member for 1 day of racing.Total $202.00 for one sled one race (2 rounds)in Duluth. I did stick around to watch some of the semi pro’s.I know better than anyone that the racers make the show. That is why I try very hard to get the sponsorship to give away $3000.00 in rings $30.000 in tools $15,000 in Jackets $14,000 in trophies $1,500 in flags. The last thing we wanted to do is raise our prices. But! If you look back we haven’t raised our prices and just about everything has doubled in price. From ketchup to Hay bails to diesel fuel. I don’t want to carry on here but we do have to make adjustments to keep this race track running in the future. I do believe we run a first class operation and I thank each and every one of you for your support.

As for Pit Parking Electricity: Last weekend I spent $65.00 for fuel for my generator 1½ days. We have tried to provide Electricity in the pits for a reasonable price. But with all the stuff the comes in these new 45’ foot trailers from pizza ovens to total electric heat we can no longer keep up with demand with our system. So this year we will no longer be able to provide electricity in the pits.

Again we are trying to keep up with all the traditions the you have all come to expect here at the Derby. Keep in mind your pit pass also allows you 4 days of general gate admission as well. I have been to other races that don’t let you into the spectator area
.I know a lot of family members and friends take advantage of this.
I will try my best to keep it affordable.

Pay Out
All pro classes are 100% Pay Back Everything else but JR'S is 70% We use the ISR format as to how many places we pay back per class.(# of entrys )

Let's remember Eagle river is privately owned, so if they don't make a profit they won't be around,I guess it's time for the drivers to take it in the shorts. Todd I think I needed to wear my hip boots before reading your post. Lets see rings only in one oval class, tool box only in one oval class why are all the drivers paying for it? What are the sponsors paying for Amsoil,Snap-on Cold wave and etc.? Price of fuel, look at the pumps the price is lower than two years ago. If they need more money to put on the race, look for more sponsors, they are out there, even in these tight times. If you have to charge for pit passes why so much, going from one free to each driver to $65.00 what a jump. What about the driver that enters more than one class, you didn't answer that, do thay get a pass for every class or do they get a discount on there enteries? By the way what size generator did you have that took $65.00 to run for a day and a half? I guess maybe you only want the big boys to run.

Most people don't realize things from the race promoter's point of view. The Derby Track has to make a profit or the race ceases to exist, period. I am not going to let a $65.00 pit pass put a hitch in my plans to participate in the greatest event in all of snowmobile racing.

Todd, thanks for the explanation. I have been on both sides of this deal and I know exactly where Todd is coming from. Yes its hard to swallow any kind of price increase but that's life. If the Derby Track is successful, it only helps oval racing in the big picture. Just my .02
